Privacy Policy
Dovetail (“we”, “us”, “our”)
Last updated: 6 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data Dovetail collects, why, and what rights you have over it. It applies to the Dovetail website and app at hire-together-app.lovable.app (or your live domain, once set).
1. Who we are
Dovetail is operated by Sara Allen, of [registered or business address]. You can contact us about privacy at [privacy contact email].
2. What data we collect
Account data. When you create an account, we collect your email address and password, or — if you sign in with Google — your name, email address, and profile photo as provided by Google.
Profile data. To generate your matches, we collect your name, career area and specialist experience, the skills you bring, your preferred working days and pattern, your target work location, and your salary expectations.
Waitlist data. If you join the waiting list for the Job-Sharing Course, we collect your email address and, if you provide one, your free-text answer about what you’d want from the course.
Usage data. We use an analytics tool to understand how people use the site — this may include pages visited, device and browser information, and your IP address. [Analytics provider name to be added.]
Cookies. [To be completed once you’ve checked what cookies the site actually sets.]
We do not knowingly collect any special category data (such as health, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation). If anything you submit — for example, in a free-text field — happens to reveal something like this, we only use it for the purpose you provided it for, and do not infer anything further from it.
3. How we use your data, and why it's lawful
| What we do | Why (lawful basis) |
|---|---|
| Create and manage your account, let you sign in | Necessary to perform our contract with you |
| Generate your match count and anonymous “fit” headlines | Necessary to perform our contract with you |
| Use your salary expectations to assess compatibility | Necessary to perform our contract with you — your salary is used only for this and is never shown to other users or displayed publicly |
| Send you course-waitlist updates | Your consent, given when you join the list |
| Understand and improve how the site is used | Our legitimate interest in running and improving Dovetail, balanced against your privacy — or your consent, if this involves non-essential cookies |
| Process payment, once paid access launches | Necessary to perform our contract with you |
| Prevent fraud and keep the service secure | Our legitimate interest in protecting Dovetail and its users |
Where we rely on your consent (for example, the course waitlist), you can withdraw it at any time — see Section 7.
4. How matching works
Your match count and “fit” headlines are generated automatically from the profile information you provide — your career area, skills, preferred working pattern, target location, and salary expectations. This is used to show you how many people might be a good fit; it does not make any decision about your employment, and no automated decision with legal or similarly significant effects is made about you by this process. Full profiles and names remain locked until paid access is available.
5. Who we share your data with
We share data with the service providers who help us run Dovetail, including:
- Lovable Cloud, which hosts the Dovetail app and its database
- Google, if you choose to sign in with your Google account
- [Analytics provider name to be added]
- [Payment provider — to be added once paid access launches]
We do not sell your personal data to third parties, and we do not share your salary information or full profile with other users.
6. International transfers
[Complete once you’ve confirmed where your hosting and analytics providers store data. If any provider stores data outside the UK/EEA, this section needs to name the safeguard used — e.g. the UK’s International Data Transfer Addendum, or an adequacy decision.]
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you
- have inaccurate data corrected
- ask us to delete your data
- restrict or object to how we use it
- receive your data in a portable format
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent
- complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [privacy contact email].
8. How long we keep your data
We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, salary expectation, conversations and messages are erased straight away. Waitlist data is kept until the course launches or you unsubscribe, whichever is sooner.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your data, including encrypted connections and access controls on our backend. No method of storing or transmitting data is completely secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
Dovetail is intended for working professionals and is not directed at, or knowingly used by, anyone under 18.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll let you know — for example, by email or a notice on the site — before they take effect.
12. Contact us
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at [privacy contact email].
